Greetings Graduating Class:
Point of Contact:
Students can contact Melinda Jennings – Graduating Class Advisor at email@example.com, 202.274.6823, text her at 202.329-4211.
I will be hosting monthly Graduating Class Meetings to further prepare you for Commencement 2019. Please do your best attend. I will still send out agendas and newsletters to keep you in the loop if you cannot attend meetings. See the schedule below for more information.
Note: We will have meetings at both the Van Ness and 801 N. Capitol St. NE locations. Feel free to attend either based on your schedule, as the same information will be given.
Who participates in Commencement?
The University of the District of Columbia has one commencement ceremony. We currently do not have summer and fall commencements. Everyone who is graduating will be participating in one commencement on Saturday, May 9, 2020 regardless of the type of degree being received. That means, if you are receiving your Associate, Bachelor or Master degrees, you all will be graduating on the same day, at the same time.
Who do I speak to regarding completion status, credits and eligibility for Commencement?
If you have questions about the eligibility of receiving your degree, you have two options: 1) Track your progress via your MyUDC portal under the “student tab” and navigate the site to find out your progress. 2) Visit your academic or faculty advisor in person to verify your progress and completion.
How do I apply for Commencement?
See this >>link<< for step by step instructions or visit the Registrar at your respective campus. The last day to apply for graduation is January 17, 2020.
Is there a fee to apply for Commencement?
Yes. The fee is $125 and it goes toward the processing and printing of your degree, degree book cover and announcements/invitations. You may pay this fee by having it applied to your student account, or you can pay in full with a credit or debit card via the portal. The last day to apply for graduation is January 17, 2020. This fee does not cover your cap and gown.
May I visit either campus (801 North Capitol NE or 4200 Connecticut Avenue NW) for future Earl Howard Pictures and Jostens Class Rings events?
Yes, the events are held at both locations for convenience. You may visit either location. Jostens will offer discounts for graduates in person. Earl Howard usually requires a $20 sitting fee, to be paid directly to them. You may visit the studio on your own, at any time.
