Sheila White has been on a long journey to improve her lot in life. After dropping out in ninth grade to raise her first child, she made a commitment to herself and her family that she would eventually complete her education. She found refuge at UDC and completed two associate degrees despite seven years of homelessness.

UDC music directors grateful for special seasonal event
With an atmosphere of holiday cheer and the sounds of the season, students, faculty, alumni and the public were treated to the annual University of the District of Columbia Holiday Concert at the Theater of the Arts. The music was directed by music professors Johnny Butler, Allyn Johnson and Gerry Gillespie.
Annual concert helps usher in the holidays
Watch the UDC annual holiday concert, which took place on December 5, and featured the UDC Chorale, The Voices and the UDC Jazz Ensemble. It was the first in-person concert since 2019.
