UDC’s sports legacy was on full display last Saturday as a large group gathered for an unveiling ceremony of a statue honoring Dr. Edwin Bancroft Henderson known as the “Grandfather of Black Basketball.” The event attracted other UDC sports alumni including former Harlem Globetrotter Charles “Choo” Smith, Jr., and Basketball Africa League President Amadou Gallo Fall.

More than 100 University of the District of Columbia (UDC) students received refurbished laptops as part of AT&T’s nationwide commitment to help bridge the digital divide. AT&T worked with Digitunity and WildTech to provide UDC with computers and other resources.

UDC honors historic Juneteenth
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas, two and a half years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation to ensure the enslaved were freed. The University will be closed on June 19 in observance of this historically significant holiday.
