For access, please contact the Alumni Office via email alumni@udc.edu or phone 202.274.5206 to be verified.  The Alumni Office will then forward your request to Learning Resources who will issue your access code.

The Learning Resources Division offers a wealth of informative and entertaining opportunities for UDC alumni to continue enriching their lifelong search for knowledge after graduating.

The Learning Resources Division (LRD) website is the door to access many sources of information and alumni could browse our holding and services at www.lrdudc.wrlc.org.

Besides the capability to find out what we have on our shelves, ready for your browsing and using in our facilities, there is online access to full text citations, articles, e-books, sound files, digital images, video recordings, and hundreds of periodicals.

LRD maintains the University’s collections available on-site that consists of:

  • Over 580,000 volumes
  • Over 60,000 media items that include films and video recordings in DVD and VHS formats, and sound recordings from the Felix E. Grant Jazz Archives
  • Over 100 journals in print with thousands of back issues available

LRD also provides access to a wealth of online resources in a variety of formats, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year from any computer, on campus, or anywhere. These include:

  • Over 50,000 titles of electronic book selections from e-brary, My i-Library, and Net-Library as well as reference titles from Credo Reference, Gale Virtual Reference Library, and Salem Press
  • Nearly 50,000 unique electronic journals with more than a century’s worth of coverage
  • More than 2,000 full programs and 20,000 clips of streaming video from Discovery Universitycovering a variety of subject areas including series from PBS, BBC, Discovery Channel and others
  • LRD is one of the first academic libraries in the country to make available downloadable audio books from My i-Library from an initial collection of 500 titles to be played on a computer or transferred to a portable digital device (iPod, etc.)

LRD has faculty that provides reference assistance on site as well as electronically to assist in locating and retrieving needed information and materials.

LRD’s Center for Academic Support also maintains the University’s Learning Portal to support online learning and that system can also be used for chat groups, posting of information for approved organizations, general communications, etc.

Alumni members will receive an ID card and will be registered in our system so that they can access to LRD services for a year. The card will be renewed as long as alumni maintain the status of good standing with the University.
