Brookings Lecture Series
About the Series
The project, designed as a student centered lecture series featuring Brookings’ Scholars, will be integrated into the University of the District of Columbia Interdisciplinary General Education curriculum. Consistent with the tenets of a liberal education, the lecture series will provide a wide range of knowledge under the umbrella of a broad civics theme — Discovery Civic Engagement: Exploring race, power, and politics with the Brookings Institution. The strategy is to provide the University’s undergraduate students across colleges and schools with exposure to a variety of diverse but connected topics and consider their application and translational value relative to American governance systems, statue, practice, procedure, historical documents, etc. A pilot multi-section offering, will be initially available to about 120 students on a first come, first served basis during the fall 2019. Brookings and UDC are exploring ways to share this experience with the broader community without disrupting the student experience including simulcasts or online libraries of the lectures.
