About Capital Builders Center
The Capital Builders Center and Clifton Scholars Program in the District of Columbia is an exciting new entrepreneurship–focused student scholarship competition that launched on April 28th of 2018. This initiative is developed specifically for District residents and powered by the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), and support from Jim and Susan Clifton. This tuition-free, eighteen-month opportunity includes summer boot camps, entrepreneurship coursework, life skills training, competitions, events, coaching, and mentorship, that culminates in a second-summer apprenticeship with a local corporation or organization.
The program is open to graduating high school seniors and college freshman from the District of Columbia who are entering their first year at UDC or at two other public HBCUs close to UDC (Bowie State and Morgan State). Participants will be chosen based on their BP-10 assessment scores.

Program will select 20 students for the initial boot camp, and then award 20 full program tuition scholarships to selected students for the program based on BP-10 assessment scores.
Capital Builders Center Boot Camps
Summer programs with some weekend activities hosted by UDC provide basic life skills and teach participants about starting a business, help participants outline business concepts, help participants flush out models and validate the viability of their business concepts.
Capital Builders Center Course Work Experiential Learning, and Internships
The three-semester entrepreneurship training and internship program is designed to support high potential (select) entrepreneurs with life skills, job placements, entrepreneur courses, business coaching and mentoring, and knowledge about business financing, while providing the connection to resources to build their business and take risks.
Life Skills Training and Economic and Social Support Services
UDC will provide life skills training and support services to help the Scholars manage the economic and social challenges they are confronting.
The Scholars will receive a total cost of attendance stipend up to $6500 if they complete the entire program.

“Build Your Dream Days”
“Build Your Dream Days”: In April 2018, UDC, the Clifton Foundation and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund launched the scholarship competition in a series of in-school programs at selected schools. On APRIL 28TH, 2018, UDC hosted a city-wide “Build Your Dream Day” at UDC. The “Build Your Dream Days” included motivational speeches about the value of entrepreneurship, information about the Capital Builders Center Program, a (BP-10) assessment, a prototype student challenge activity, with a rousing finish and refreshments.
Notify finalists with outstanding BP10 & invite to remaining scholarship competition process.

Boot Camp class, parents & advisor attend reception & orientation for valuable info & network.
Initial Boot Camp opens & Boot Camp class starts their training.
Scholars launch businesses and start Entrepreneurship Curriculum.
