The UDC Speech-Language Pathology Program hosts “Tea With A Twist”

On March 2, 2019, the Speech-Language Pathology Program of the Division of Education, Health, and Social Work, hosted “Tea With A Twist,” a tea with a bit of a surprise to afford students an impromptu break in the midst of the midterm season and promote a culture of self-care, shared value, and community. The “twist” was a sip-and-paint-style event with tea to sip, an assortment of hors d’oeuvres to please the palate, and a playlist to set the mood. Student clinicians applied their visions of success and creativity to blank canvases. They were led by program director and up-and-coming Sip’n’Paint facilitator extraordinaire, Professor Tiffany Gurley-Nettles (photos of students: Shavon Martin, Rachel Mayer, Julia McGuire, Astrid Korte, Candace Thomas, Demia Moss, Stephani Plourde, Karen Olivo Rubio, Molly Chiron, Olivia Harding, and Emily FitzMaurice). All enjoyed a therapeutic afternoon together. Thank you to faculty and staff, Professor Tiffany Gurley-Nettles, Dr. LaKeisha Johnson, Dr. Sulare Telford, Professor Rukman Niyangoda, Dr. Alex Howe, Weynshet Demessie, and Professor Myesha Carter for your commitment in supporting a beautiful and impactful opportunity for this professional and academic community.
