April is Jazz Appreciation Month and the perfect opportunity to celebrate one of America’s most iconic art forms. In this issue, we spotlight UDC’s dynamic Music Program, whose graduates perform, entertain, and teach at every level with degree offerings in music education, music performance, jazz studies and gospel studies.

Remember to get tickets for the Calvin Jones BIG BAND festival, which makes its long-awaited return on April 24 at the UDC Theatre of the Arts. The Calvin Jones BIG BAND Jazz Festival features three university big band jazz ensembles: University of the District of Columbia, Howard University and the University of Maryland. The 2023 festival celebrates thirty-four years of world-class jazz. The event is produced by the University of the District of Columbia Jazz Studies Program and the Felix E. Grant Jazz Archives.
