The Beta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., which includes Dejenee Miller, Jada Harrington, Basheerah Abdus-Shakur, Tierra Allen, Jniya Butler and Shavonne Fraley, attended the 92nd North Atlantic Regional Conference (NARC) in Philadelphia in March. The North Atlantic Region is home to 144 graduate and undergraduate chapters and 16,000 members across 12 states. The Chapter, which was accompanied by their graduate advisor, Angel Alston Johnson, received twelve awards. Dejenee Miller, Jada Harrington and Basheerah Abdus-Shakur were also inducted into the inaugural Ethel Hedgemon Lyle Leadership Academy—named after Alpha Kappa Sorority, Inc.’s principal founder. In addition, Dejenee Miller was chosen to be a 2023 Leadership Fellow, one of only five undergraduates in the region who will participate in a fellowship program to network with leaders in her desired career field and gain certification to serve in higher officer positions within Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
