CAUSES takes first prize for innovative "ultra urban bmp"

The College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability & Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) and the Department of Energy & Environment’s (DOEE) Bertie Backus stormwater treatment train was awarded first prize in “The Best Urban BMP in the Bay Award contest (BUBBAs).” The contest recognizes the best urban stormwater practices and programs in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

The goal of the BUBBAs is to recognize innovators in the field who are using new and innovative techniques for facing the challenges of stormwater management; provide an avenue for disseminating these techniques to other communities who could benefit from the lessons learned and innovative approaches; and engage the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Network of stormwater professionals to choose the grand prize winner and promote interactivity among members.

The ultra urban bmp is part of the UDC Bertie Backus Campus Green Infrastructure Treatment Train Project, which is located at 5171 South Dakota Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20017. For more information, please click here.
