The UDC School of Business and Public Administration (SBPA) was recognized for its AACSB Accreditation at the annual AACSB conference in Chicago on April 23-25. The accreditation was first announced in February. Synonymous with the highest standards of quality, AACSB accreditation inspires new ways of thinking within business education globally. Less than 6% of the world’s schools offering business degree programs hold AACSB accreditation.

“The School of Business and Public Administration at the University of the District of Columbia, along with our many stakeholders, treasure AACSB accreditation,” said Dean Mohamad Sepehri. “The work toward this accreditation solidifies our preeminent status among peer institutions. The quality of the intellectual contributions at the University has helped UDC position itself to pursue Research 2 (R2) status and this accreditation is an endorsement and validation of our remarkable progress and achievements.”

During the conference, the SBPA was also inducted into the prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) honor society, which was founded in 1913. Only AACSB-accredited schools may join. Inducted as students, BGS members go on to serve in critical leadership roles in corporate, entrepreneurial, government, non-profit and academic sectors. Members currently reside in all 50 U. S. states and more than 190 countries. Notable members include Nobel Prize winners, Olympians, inventors, CEOs of major global companies and nonprofit organizations, deans of the top business schools, and others who are making the world a better place at all levels of contribution through social enterprise, service and leadership.

“We were recognized and acknowledged five times during the AACSB conference,” said Sepehri. “These are exciting times for the SBPA.”
