Global Fairness Initiative announces spring Sapin Fellow

The Global Fairness Initiative (GFI) announced a partnership with UDC College of Arts and Sciences to make the GFI Sapin Fellowship exclusively available to students from the University. Torrey Thomas, a junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science and computer science with a concentration in global studies, has been selected as the first UDC Sapin Fellow. This spring, Thomas will join the GFI team working on the issues and programs at the heart of GFI’s mission to create a more equitable, sustainable world for the working poor. UDC student attends White House briefing with Vice President Harris and Keisha Lance Bottoms

Digital media major Asha Moore-Smith (’23) represented UDC at the exclusive White House HBCU student press briefing in Washington, DC, on February 23. The event was hosted by Keisha Lance Bottoms, senior advisor to the President for Public Engagement, and featured a visit from Vice President Kamala Harris. The Biden-Harris administration organized the briefing in support of historically Black colleges and universities.
