Nourishing America Tour: UDC hosts more than 35 experts to tackle food equity and sustainability challenge

UDC, Food Tank, and Bowery Farming hosted a summit entitled “AgroEcology: Towards a Sustainable and Equitable Food Systems Model” on Wednesday, April 20, in the UDC Student Center on the Van Ness campus. Part of the Nourish America Tour, the event boasted more than 35 speakers, including UDC President Ronald Mason Jr. and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton.

Alumnus gives back to his school and community with gifts from the Ellen Show

For 27 years, band director Darrell Watson has been changing lives through music at the Frank W. Ballou Senior High School. His award-winning band has been chronicled in a documentary and invited to the White House and the Ellen DeGeneres Show, where he received $300,000 for the southeast D.C. public school and band through multiple appearances on the show.

SEAS students take first place honors in the AMIE Design Challenge

SEAS students take first place honors in the AMIE Design Challenge – The UDC School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) team surpassed Florida A&M University and Tuskegee University to win first prize and $10,800 in the 2022 Advancing Minorities’ Interest in Engineering (AMIE) Design Challenge held virtually on April 1.
