A Message From the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences

April Massey, Ph.D., Dean College of Arts and SciencesI am looking forward to seeing you this fall and supporting your journeys toward new possibilities.

The start of the fall semester is a busy time for new and returning students. Faculty and staff in the College are available to help you finalize registration, explore extracurricular activities, find a major, problem-solve your textbook and supply needs, apply for graduation or find scholarships, internships and research assistantships. Remember that your faculty advisors are a key component of your success.

A few updates:

  • We’ve added new classrooms, updated labs, and purchased new technology needed to enhance your learning experiences. We’re also working to add more spaces where you’ll be able to collaborate with fellow students.
  • We’ve expanded our pool of experts with the hire of nearly 25 new faculty and staff members. This August, we welcomed new hires in Art, Education, Social Work, Political Science, Digital Media and Administration of Justice, to name just a few programs.
  • We met with local and national organizations across the summer toward our goal of having every CAS student complete an internship or fellowship before graduation. We will again work with DACOR, the Global Fairness Initiative and the Smithsonian/Hirshhorn Museum.

We’re here to partner with you to create an experience that moves you one step closer to your dreams.
