College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability, and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) Ph.D. candidates, Camille Range, and Haniyeh Shariatmadary and Ph.D. student Tracy Crump, presented at the 2022 Urban Food Systems Symposium (UFSS) in Kansas City, Missouri, from September 26-28.

Range presented on her research entitled “The Effectiveness of Food Policy and Leadership in Major United States Cities: an examination of food policy councils.” Shariatmadary’s topic was “Assessing the social and environmental contributions of food hubs in highly populated metropolitan areas of the United States.” Crump‘s research presentation was on “The Role of African American Women in Urban Agriculture.”

UFSS brings together a national and international audience of academics and research-oriented professionals to share and gain knowledge on building coalitions to adapt to a changing world and the solutions urban food systems have to offer. Other universities in attendance include Cornell, Johns Hopkins and Michigan State.
