Global Business Learning: X-Culture at UDC

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The X-Culture Challenge

Sponsored by the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, the X-Culture challenge/competition is held every semester, and more than 5,000 students and professionals from over 50 countries take part, working as cross-cultural, global virtual teams.

Group of six adults smiling and posing indoors while holding up certificates, as if celebrating a graduation or training completion. For several months, students work together on business projects as ‘global consultants’ to real-life worldwide corporate partners. The students compete, collaborate through online and social media platforms, learn about the challenges and best practices of international business marketing/management consulting, and overcome language and cultural differences. X-Culture connects university students and professionals from around the world in virtual teams to solve real business challenges for corporate partners.

Since 2018, 238 UDC undergraduate and MBA students have completed the challenge through Dr. Anshu Arora's International Marketing Management course.

X-Culture Global Business Week Conference

MBA students Jordan Watson, Marshon Darden Smith and James Clipper were selected from a competitive international pool to participate in the 2026 X-Culture Global Business Week Conference. Representing UDC's School of Business and Public Administration, they collaborated with students and business professionals from around the world, applying their MBA knowledge to real-world international consulting challenges.

Their participation was made possible through travel funding from the UDC Foundation.

Watson, Smith and Clipper joined peers and faculty from around the world, engaging with participants representing more than 50 countries and building relationships that extended well beyond the classroom. A central part of the experience was solving real business challenges for Italian companies. Students worked on client-company projects, applying concepts from their MBA studies to practical international business questions.
