For learning technology tools and on-demand faculty resources, please visit CAL’s website.

Students: Due to inclement weather, the university will be closed to face-to-face operations. Instruction will be moved to emergency remote, including synchronous and asynchronous methods. Certain laboratory, clinical, and other hands-on classes for which in-person instruction is a requirement may necessitate a make-up lesson, but every effort will be made to pursue virtual learning to the extent possible. Where synchronous virtual instruction is intended, published class meeting times must be observed so that students’ schedules are not disrupted.

The safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, and the broader community remain our top priority. We will continue to provide updates regarding the status of the university’s academic and administrative offices as conditions change.

Please continue to check our website and social media channels for the latest information.

If you have any safety concerns, contact OPSEM at 202-274-5050. For all immediate emergencies, call 911.

Thank you for your continued dedication to our students and to UDC’s mission.

The College of Arts and Sciences’ (CAS) Division of Science and Math Program has been selected as a 2024 Beckman Scholars Program awardee.

The Beckman Scholars Program is a 15-month mentorship research program for exceptional undergraduate students in chemistry, biological sciences or related interdisciplinary combinations. The program application is by invitation only.

It issues awards to institutions that span three years and gives institutions support for six scholar-mentor pairs – two for each year of the award. Scholar-mentor pairs receive $26,000 in funding – $21,000 per student and $5,000 per faculty mentor. Two scholars from UDC will be chosen.

Three academic units – CAS, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) and UDC’s Community College – will be involved and provide mentors for UDC Beckman Scholars.

The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation incorporates the principles of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) into its operations and culture.

The foundation identifies colleges and universities that will receive Beckman Scholars Program application invitations. The selection process is extremely thorough. It is a two-part review led by a panel of scientific experts with institutions chosen based on their dedication to undergraduate research in chemistry, biology and/or combinations thereof and their ability to compete in national-level programs.
