Ahead of the winter weather storm, Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a State of Emergency for the District beginning Friday, Jan 23. Mayor Bowser also declared a snow emergency that will go into Saturday, Jan. 24, and will stay in effect until 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

All administrative and academic offices within the University of the District of Columbia will be closed effective 5 p.m. EST on Friday, Jan. 23, until 9:30 a.m. EST on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

The safety and security of our students, faculty, staff and the broader community remain our top priority. We will continue to provide updates regarding the status of the university’s administrative and academic offices as conditions change.

President Mason spoke at the “Competencies, Digital Credentials & Community Change” event on Thursday, January 19. The Solution Spotlight Webinar was hosted by 1Edtech, a nonprofit member organization “committed to advancing technology that can affordably scale and improve educational participation and attainment.”

Mason discussed how UDC equips its learners with explicit competencies to create a seamless transition into workforce opportunities or advanced education. The webinar also looked at the nexus of digital credentials and opportunities, especially for those students that previous systems may have overlooked.

The other featured speaker was Jean-Claude Brizard, president & CEO of Digital Promise. Keith Look, vice president of Education Solutions at Territorium, moderated the event. Please click here to watch the recording.
