Ahead of the winter weather storm, Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a State of Emergency for the District beginning Friday, Jan 23. Mayor Bowser also declared a snow emergency that will go into Saturday, Jan. 24, and will stay in effect until 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

All administrative and academic offices within the University of the District of Columbia will be closed effective 5 p.m. EST on Friday, Jan. 23, until 9:30 a.m. EST on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

The safety and security of our students, faculty, staff and the broader community remain our top priority. We will continue to provide updates regarding the status of the university’s administrative and academic offices as conditions change.

UDC Celebrates Anacostia High School Students in the Pilot Summer Internship Program

DAWN Initiative, UDC supported five Anacostia High School students
As a part of the DAWN Initiative, UDC supported five Anacostia High School students in the pilot UDC Summer Internship Program, where students addressed real-world environmental justice issues through their work with the Department of Interior (DOI), UDC mentors and other government officials. To mark the end of this program, the students presented their work at the Department of Interior on August 4, 2022, and attended a UDC-sponsored lunch on August 5, 2022, to celebrate their efforts. Event attendees included the families of these students, DOI and other government officials, UDC staff and representatives from Anacostia High School.
