Patrick Gusman, J.D.
Patrick Gusman, J.D., serves as Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Corporate Relations at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC). He leads UDC’s efforts to optimize the daily operations of the Office of the President and the UDC Executive Cabinet, implement and manage strategic presidential initiatives, and advance institutional priorities such as Service Excellence and the Institutional Culture Transformation. He also spearheads UDC’s efforts to develop collaborative presidential-level relationships with corporate, government and community partners to foster dynamic partnerships and engage UDC in cutting-edge challenges and opportunities.
Gusman has worked extensively across the legal, corporate, higher education, entrepreneurial and nonprofit sectors in the United States and internationally in Africa, Germany and France. He is fluent in English and French. Before joining UDC, Gusman held key leadership and advisory roles with organizations including as Chief Innovation Officer and Senior Vice President at the National Urban League, Chief Operating Officer at Sasha Bruce Youthwork, President at Equal Footing Foundation, and top leadership roles at DaimlerChrysler-affiliated operations in the United States, South Africa, France and Germany, and he was the Founding Managing Director of Chrysler Financial France.
His areas of expertise include execution of daily operations, developing strategic initiatives to position organizations for growth, translating complex organizational challenges into clear, actionable strategies, negotiating large class action settlements, and building partnerships that foster innovation and organizational development. His work as a collaborative leader, communicator and mentor has yielded a valuable global network for engaging colleagues and protégés that share a passion for innovation and mentoring and empowering organizations to solve complex challenges and achieve shared goals.
Gusman earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame with a concentration in Finance and French and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center with a focus on international and corporate law.
