Campuses will reopen on Monday, Feb. 2.

Staff: Contact your immediate supervisor with questions or for further instruction regarding remote work expectations.

Faculty: Reach out to your immediate supervisor and/or the dean for questions and further instruction regarding the transition to emergency remote instruction (ERI).  The Center for the Advancement of Learning (CAL) is available to support faculty with instructional continuity, including support for Blackboard, Zoom, Webex and other teaching and learning technologies.

For learning technology tools and on-demand faculty resources, please visit CAL’s website.

Students: Due to inclement weather, the university will be closed to face-to-face operations. Instruction will be moved to emergency remote, including synchronous and asynchronous methods. Certain laboratory, clinical, and other hands-on classes for which in-person instruction is a requirement may necessitate a make-up lesson, but every effort will be made to pursue virtual learning to the extent possible. Where synchronous virtual instruction is intended, published class meeting times must be observed so that students’ schedules are not disrupted.

The safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, and the broader community remain our top priority. We will continue to provide updates regarding the status of the university’s academic and administrative offices as conditions change.

Please continue to check our website and social media channels for the latest information.

If you have any safety concerns, contact OPSEM at 202-274-5050. For all immediate emergencies, call 911.

Thank you for your continued dedication to our students and to UDC’s mission.

Accessibility and Resource Center

The University of the District of Columbia extends a warm welcome to applicants, undergraduates and postgraduates with disabilities. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy your academic studies and university life to the fullest. Our many students and alumni with disabilities who have gone before you have made us proud of their academic and personal achievements.

Accessible Information Management (AIM) is a web-based tool for the University of the District of Columbia students registered with the Accessibility Resource Center. It’s a Comprehensive Accommodation, Appointment, and Case Management Software program that’s built By Disability Services Professionals, For Disability Services Departments such as the ARC. It’s also fully integrated with UDC Student Information System (Banner), making coordination of services for students easier.

General guidelines and step-by-step tutorials for accessing AIM are provided below.

Why Do I Need to Use AIM?

  • You must request accommodation each semester through AIM to ensure the most effective implementation of your accommodations.
    • Please make sure to request your accommodation in a timely manner, as some accommodations require advanced preparation and planning.
  • Professors are not obligated to provide you with classroom accommodation if you have not provided your official ARC accommodation letter.
  • Unless requested by the student registered with the ARC, faculty members receive no notification of your registration status at ARC or your accommodations.
  • Accommodation letters can be requested and e-mailed to you and to your professors upon your request through AIM.

Every Semester, Students Must Complete the Following in AIM

  • Request Accommodations
  • Acknowledge ARC policies.
  • Send Accommodation Letters to Faculty
  • Schedule ALL Tests/Exams/etc. Tips for Requesting Accommodations
  • The ARC recommends that you contact your professors before the start of (or at the beginning of) each semester to discuss your accommodation needs for each class.
  • Familiarize yourself with each course’s syllabus and requirements; proactively address any questions or concerns you may have regarding the provision of your accommodation.
  • Please remember that you do not need to identify the nature of your disability to your professors; however, many students have found it helpful to discuss their specific learning styles with their professors.
