For learning technology tools and on-demand faculty resources, please visit CAL’s website.

Students: Due to inclement weather, the university will be closed to face-to-face operations. Instruction will be moved to emergency remote, including synchronous and asynchronous methods. Certain laboratory, clinical, and other hands-on classes for which in-person instruction is a requirement may necessitate a make-up lesson, but every effort will be made to pursue virtual learning to the extent possible. Where synchronous virtual instruction is intended, published class meeting times must be observed so that students’ schedules are not disrupted.

The safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, and the broader community remain our top priority. We will continue to provide updates regarding the status of the university’s academic and administrative offices as conditions change.

Please continue to check our website and social media channels for the latest information.

If you have any safety concerns, contact OPSEM at 202-274-5050. For all immediate emergencies, call 911.

Thank you for your continued dedication to our students and to UDC’s mission.

President Edington delivers remarks at the Fall Academic Forum in the Theater of the Arts.

UDC faculty members gathered in the Theater of the Arts on the Van Ness campus Aug. 16 for the 2023 Fall Academic Forum. With the theme Elevating Momentum: Our Flightpath Forward, the event provided status updates on key performance indicators and a vision for the academic year ahead.

President Edington described his leadership style and laid out his blueprint for the University, adding that the first steps of his higher-education career were taken as a faculty member. The longtime University administrator is a physical chemist and served as founding dean of the College of Science and Technology at Florida A&M University before taking on roles in university leadership.

“Long after administrators like me come and go, long after students leave with their credentials, you all are still here,” Edington told the crowd of new and returning administrators. “You all help to ensure that this institution remains strong and on the right path, and I share that with you so that you can begin to see the appreciation that I have for you and the great work that you do.”

The forum featured several technology-related workshops and talks for faculty. The University also welcomed more than three dozen new and visiting faculty members at the event and celebrated the tenure and/or promotion of 18 others.
