Graduate Student Opportunities

AMP3 supports MS and Ph.D. students to research in the field of nanotechnology, materials, and additive manufacturing. UDC, Howard University, and Morgan State University offer MS and Ph.D. programs. Additional details about the HU and MSU graduate program can be found from the link below. Interested students can also contact (PI MSU, and HU).

UDC Ph.D. program

UDC offers a unique Ph.D. program in Computer Science and Engineering. This program allows engineering Ph.D. to focus on cutting edge science and engineering topics along with building state of the art skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Ph.D. students in the UDC graduate program typically take two courses in AI and apply that in their science and engineering.

AMP3 Ph.D. students will be funded to pursue research in collaboration with the Department of Energy Industries and laboratories. These Ph.D. students may be able to travel to DOE industries and laboratories to gain unique experience and network with future employers. AMP3 partner with KCNSC, Y-12, and ORNL.  AMP3 Ph.D. students may get full tuition and a competitive stipend.

MS Program

AMP3 is led by UDC’s Mechanical engineering department. ME department offers an MS degree in specialized areas of (a) Advanced Manufacturing (focus on 3D printing), (b) Nanotechnology, and (c) Renewable energy. ME department faculty perform research in multiple exciting and high impact areas. Click here to access ME faculty profiles to learn about their research expertise.

AMP3 students interested in the MS program at UDC can opt for one of the following two options.

  • Accelerated MSME (five-year BS+MS program: suitable for UDC undergraduate students)
  • MSME

AMP3 MS students will be funded to pursue research in collaboration with the Department of Energy Industries and laboratories. These MS students may be able to travel to DOE industries and laboratories to gain unique experience and network with future employers. AMP3 partner with KCNSC, Y-12, and ORNL.  AMP3 MS students may get full tuition and a competitive stipend.
