Biography

Alex T.K. Tan is Professor of Finance in the School of Business and Public Administration (SBPA) at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC).  He also serves as Chairperson of the Department of Accounting and Finance.  Prior to joining UDC in 2016, he was a faculty member in the Sykes College of Business at The University of Tampa.  His main teaching areas are corporate finance, international finance, and financial models.

Alex received a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Central Florida.  In addition, he holds three degrees from Washington State University: M.A. in Agribusiness, M.A. in Economics, and B.A. in Business Administration.  His research interests include corporate finance, governance, executive compensation, and international finance, and had published several papers in those areas. In recent years, he had diverted some efforts into pedagogical research, and has published an article appear in the Advances of Finance Education.  Through the years, Alex has participated in various regional/international conferences in different roles.

In his spare time, Alex enjoys spending time with his family.  He also enjoys traveling. Apart from domestic travels, at least once a year, he travels to Asia to visit family.
