Dean’s Welcome

“It is hard to fall, the challenge is to get back on your feet”

Nothing gives me more pleasure to share the SBPA’s success and accomplishments.  We stride to achieve our objective, while setting ambitious goals and far-reaching vision.  We will not be satisfied by doing the minimal, but rather to surpass and exceed the highest quality and trait. It is a distinct honor and a unique opportunity for SBPA to host the Academy of International Business – South East Region (AIBSE) in October 2017.  The conference will provide a worldwide exposure for UDC-SBPA by showcasing our campus and our quality academic programs.  Many of SBPA faculty and students will be participating in the conference by presenting research papers, chairing sessions, and helping with other aspects of the program.  This is unprecedented in UDC’s history.

We revamped the undergraduate and graduate core curriculums to streamline the requirements for the degree and to modernize the coursework to reflect the industry demands for new graduates.  Also, starting Fall Semester 2017, SBPA introduced the 8-week format in the graduate programs to better meet the demands and traits of the current student population by providing more flexibility, convenience, and yet faster pace to complete the programs.  We plan to offer similar format in the undergraduate program.

SBPA hosted a one-day Leaders of Tomorrow Conference with invited regional and national leaders.  The students participated in concurrent workshops, learning exercises and panels.  By all accounts, it was a well-received and successful event.  I am also pleased to report that our NABA (National Association of Black Accountants) chapter was recognized as the Chapter of the Year.  They teamed up with our accounting faculty to help with the Tax Clinic and preparing tax reports for more than 630 individuals.

In our quest for quality and progress, we’ll be facing challenges and opportunities.  We are determined not to run away from the challenges and yet to take advantage of the opportunities upon us.  With your help, we can.

Best Wishes & Warmest Regards,
Mohamad Sepehri, Ph.D.
