Orientation Objective and Goals
The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) Student Orientation provides incoming first-year students and transfer students the opportunity to learn about the campus resources policies and procedures and student support services during the transition to UDC. This course serves as your general introduction to UDC and complements the information provided by your individual school and academic information for families.
- To provide parents and family members of new students with an increased awareness of the university’s policies procedures and support services
- To inform new students about the support services and activities to meet their needs from the time they are admitted throughout their first semester at UDC
- To encourage new students to play an active part in their education to maximize their use of campus and community resources and to contribute to the common good of UDC in the community
- To educate new students about the campus diversity in the part they play in its enhancement
This module will cover selecting a major, advising, and registering for classless. Also covering academics, First Year Experience (FYE), Transfer student information and utilizing technology.
