Advancing Opportunity: GE Aerospace Supports UDC’s Mission to Train Tomorrow’s Aviation Workforce

UDC announced a $125,000 award from GE Aerospace Foundation to support new equipment and learning resources for its aviation maintenance technology program.

“This award from GE Aerospace will transform the training experience for our students,” said Aviation Maintenance Technology Program Director Alusine Kanu. “Access to advanced, industry-standard equipment means our students will graduate with not only the practical skills and confidence, but also the technical certifications employers are looking for. It’s an investment in UDC students and in the region’s aviation workforce.”

Empowering Young Environmental Leaders: Anacostia Students Release New Book with UDC Support

Young Voices of the Anacostia River: Exploring Black Roots to the Eastern Shore and Back is the product of partnerships between UDC, D.C. Public Schools, Conservation Nation, editor and Nature-Wise founder Caroline Brewer and the U.S. Department of the Interior, with additional support from the Justice40 Initiative and Pepco as part of UDC’s Developing America’s Workforce Nucleus (DAWN) Initiative. Through immersive experiences in local parks, forests and waterways over the summer of 2024, students documented their observations and connections to nature.

Empowering Local Talent: UDC Partners with Accenture and PeopleShores on New Cybersecurity Hub

The University of the District of Columbia (UDC), in collaboration with Accenture and PeopleShores, launched a new Cybersecurity Tech Hub at UDC’s Congress Heights campus, marking a major investment in the future of the District’s workforce. The partnership is designed to expand career pathways into the cybersecurity industry for District residents through an innovative, paid apprenticeship program.
