Pepco: Powering Pathways to STEM, Workforce & Innovation

Pepco, an Exelon company, has made a landmark $2.125 million investment to advance UDC’s role as the District’s engine of economic mobility and innovation. Through this multifaceted partnership, Pepco has supported scholarships, career pipelines, research and community programming across both UDC’s Flagship and Community College campuses.

Key initiatives include:

  • Pepco Power Lab: A cutting-edge facility for training in smart grid systems, renewable energy and environmental technology
  • Workforce Innovation Center: A collaborative hub focused on entrepreneurship, job training and applied energy research
  • Power Scholars Program: Provides students with scholarships, paid internships and mentoring pathways into high-demand energy careers
  • UDC Community College Scholarships: Specifically supporting students earning industry-recognized energy sector credentials
  • Energy Sector Certifications: Coursework and hands-on training leading to clean energy, power systems and utility infrastructure credentials
  • Job Placement Pathways: Strong employment pipelines through paid internships, case competitions and employer partnerships

Apple: Investing in Creativity, Coding & Careers

As part of Apple’s Community Education Initiative, this partnership has expanded K–12 coding camps, supported scholarships and delivered state-of-the-art equipment and curriculum for UDC’s emerging tech talent pipeline. Together, we’re making Swift coding, digital design and tech equity more accessible to D.C.’s youth and college students.

Consys: Establishing the Consys, Inc., Engineering & Architecture Scholarship Fund, and Co-Host of UDC Legacy Gala

Total Support: $750,000 (2025-2027)

This $750,000 will provide scholarship support to students enrolled in the following UDC academic programs: Associate of Science (AS) programs in Engineering Sciences and Architectural Engineering Technology; and Bachelor of Science (BS) programs in Architecture and Civil Engineering. Their commitment is transformational—it accelerates student scholarships, workforce pathways, and innovation at UDC. And their support of the inaugural and the next two UDC Legacy Galas will help us seed the support of continuing and new contributors to our annual scholarship and awards program.

Amazon: Fueling Opportunity Through Scholarship & Skill-Building

Amazon has invested in UDC’s student scholarships and workforce readiness efforts through direct program support and its AmazonNext program. Their funding has helped D.C. residents upskill for high-demand careers in tech, logistics and customer experience—many through the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and UDC Community College.
