Yannick Brookescurrently serves as associate dean of students at the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law. In this role, he oversees all aspects of student life, including exam administration, implementation of student accommodations, orientation and pinning ceremonies, commencement services, Title IX compliance, community engagement, wellness programming and student conduct at the law school.
With 15 years of experience in higher education administration, Brookes has held leadership roles at institutions such as Columbia University, where he served as assistant dean of graduate student affairs and executive director of student services, community engagement, and equity; Yeshiva University, where he was director of student services and advising at the law school; and the University of Connecticut, where he served as director of law admissions. His professional focus centers on advancing student-centered policies, fostering inclusive learning environments and leveraging technology to improve service delivery.
During his tenure as campus associate dean of student development at Connecticut State Community College, Brookes led the creation and launch of the Housatonic campus’s first Social Justice Center—a dedicated space for dialogue, education, and community building that supports students, faculty, and staff in engaging critical social issues.
He is a life member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and actively volunteers with organizations such as City Relief – New York, the Salvation Army and various community pantries and kitchens.
Brookes is currently a doctoral candidate (ABD) in the Doctor of Education program at Northeastern University. He holds a Juris Doctor from Florida A&M University and a Bachelor of Arts in economics and legal studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He has also earned multiple certifications in mental health, inclusive leadership and workplace wellness from the University of South Florida.
