Thomas E. Redmond has served as an assistant general counsel in the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) since September 2019. He began at the university in 2008 as Director of State and Local Affairs, Office of Government Relations, after varied positions with the District of Columbia government, the DC Council, a national trade association, and a haircare products manufacturer. Early in his legal career, he taught at NYU and Seton Hall Schools of Law.
His principal areas of responsibility in OGC include administrative law, policy review, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), student affairs and athletics.
He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Mississippi, a law degree from Howard University and a master's degree in law from Harvard Law School. He is licensed in the District of Columbia and Texas. He is a United States Air Force veteran.
