Founding Director:
The Center for Diversity, Inclusion & Multicultural Affairs

At UDC, we envision our institution to be an intersectional learning environment where people of all identities and experiences are understood, included and are valued members of our campus community. The Center for Diversity, Inclusion & Multicultural Affairs (CDIMA) is charged with fostering an inclusive campus culture that is committed to the personal, academic, intellectual and professional growth of all students.

With a critical understanding of multiple identities and interconnected systems of oppression, the CDIMA works collectively with the entire UDC campus community to cultivate significant initiatives and policies that center and support students who are historically marginalized to shift culture and create a campus where every students is affirmed, supported and included.

The center caters to underrepresented populations, with specific focuses on the LGBTQ Community, International Student Community and 1st generation students. The CDIMA offers a variety of experiential learning opportunities that include intergroup dialogues, peer education, social justice lecture series, political education, cultural competency trainings, study-abroad experiences and  community engagement.

All programmatic efforts are grounded in a Social Justice analysis that utilizes Black Feminist Theory, Transformative Leadership, Critical Race Theory and Multicultural Education. This analysis is necessary to activate conscious global citizens and transformational leaders that are change-agents in their communities, workforce and beyond.

The Center for Diversity, Inclusion & Multicultural Affairs is excited to share its Inaugural founding with Class of 2021 and looks forward to hosting phenomenal events, activities and programs that speak to your experiences and desires for growth.
