Student Organizations and Activities in the English Program

English Honor Society

Sigma Tau Delta – Alpha Epsilon Rho, the UDC chapter of the International English Honor Society, has been an active chapter since 1995. We have held monthly activities, such as alumni panels, poetry readings, film screenings, and holiday events, and support local non-profit organizations in literary arts gift drives for homeless families and essay competitions for DC students. When the campus is open, we support a Sigma Tau Delta “Give a Book – Get a Book” Free Library in the Student Center and in the Caring Corner on the 4th floor of Building 71.  A photo display of past Sigma Tau Delta inductions dating back to 1995 is currently on display in Event Space 8 (“The Point”), also on the 4th floor of Building 71. The Phoenix is UDC’s literary magazine, published annually and featuring short fiction, personal narratives, poetry, and critical essays written by UDC students, faculty, and staff.
