UDC’s Board of Trustees
Barrington D. Scott
Barrington D. Scott is an immediate past alumni representative to UDC’s Board of Trustees. In this stead, Mr. Scott worked collaboratively with board members, University leadership, faculty, and students to restore UDC’s Nursing and Mortuary Science Programs accreditation; reactivate the student branch of the NAACP, recruiting and obtaining approval for 50 students to attend the organization’s national convention; provide pay increases for professors and tenured staff; foster relationships with DC area high school counselors; and regain the confidence of Mayor Muriel Bowser and the City Council, resulting in funding to reacquire the Fannie Mae building at 4250 Connecticut Avenue NW. He created the Academic Excellence Award, and raised money to recognize the brightest 10 graduating seniors, and he frequently donates to UDC —— most recently supporting UDC’s Emergency Student COVID-19 Fund. He is the recipient of the UDC 2017 PathMakers Award, and was inducted into the 2019 Class of UDC Athletic Sports Hall of Fame.
Mr. Scott is a life member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; NAACP; Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine of North and South America and Jurisdictions, Inc.; and the United Supreme Council-Grand Inspector General of the 33rd and last degree. He has one son and 5 grandchildren, and currently serves as a faithful member and deacon at the City of Praise Family Ministries in Landover, Maryland.
