STEM Expo at UDC ‘Fostering Curiosity and Innovation’ for the Next Generation
UDC is excited to host the third Saturday STEM Expo and Career Fair on Jan. 25, a free, family-friendly event designed to ignite a passion for STEM fields among K-12 students and connect them with internship and career opportunities.
“This Expo underscores UDC’s commitment to fostering curiosity and innovation among young learners,” said UDC Vice President for Research and National Science Board Vice Chair Victor McCrary. “By partnering with key federal agencies, we are inspiring the next generation to consider the endless possibilities of STEM careers and research that can impact their communities and the world.”
The event will kick off with a keynote address from Kevin T. Geiss, Director of the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), Air Force Research Laboratory. Geiss, a leading voice in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) innovation, aims to inspire attendees with insights into the transformative power of STEM fields and their impact on society.
This annual event exemplifies UDC’s strategic vision of being a regional research and innovation hub, addressing critical needs in the District through STEM education and cutting-edge initiatives. It is co-sponsored by UDC, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) and the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Dahlgren Division, and will feature more than 30 tables from a wide array of public, private and military agencies. Attendees will have the chance to interact with STEM professionals, engage in hands-on activities and explore pathways to careers in STEM.
The Saturday STEM Expo and Career Fair will be hosted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, in the UDC Student Center Ballroom at 4200 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, D.C. Participants are asked to register for the event. This expo is free and open to the public.
