Update on UDC’s Campus Master Plans for the Van Ness Campus and Lamond-Riggs Campus

The University of the District of Columbia would like to share an update on the University’s Campus Master Plans for the Van Ness Campus and Lamond-Riggs Campus.

Update on the Van Ness Campus Plan Amendment for Building 41, DC Archives

On October 26, 2023, the DC Zoning Commission approved the University’s Application for the Campus Plan Amendment and Further Processing of Building 41 (Case No. 20-33B) to provide a new home for the DC Archives on the UDC Van Ness Campus. As a result of the approval, the development will be located at the site of Building 41, which will be demolished and replaced with a new, state-of-the-art structure that will house the DC Archives and the UDC Archives, including the University’s Felix E. Grant Jazz Archives. The approval includes a condition for the gardens to be replaced.

The DC Archives project will be led and managed by the DC Department of General Services.

UDC welcomes this partnership and the new addition to our Van Ness Campus. The planned DC Archives building will benefit students, faculty, staff and our greater community. Additional information will be shared as the project progresses.
