FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UDC Workforce Development Division (WDLL) Introduces Child Development Associate in Spanish Program for Fall ’23 Semester

Washington, D.C. – The University of the District of Columbia Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Division (UDC WDLL) is excited to announce the launching of our new course “Child Development Associate in Spanish I and II”. The two-part courses will allow students the ability to earn their 120 instructional hours in Spanish.  In addition to this those who complete the 480 work experience hours, create a professional portfolio, have an observation conducted by a PD Specialist, and PASS the CDA Exam will be awarded their “Child Development Associates Bilingual Credential”.

We launched the first pilot cohort Summer 23 semester on May 30, 2023. Moving forward those who are aspiring to become early childhood educators and would like to earn their Bilingual CDA credential you are invited to attend our open house event scheduled for July 27 at 2:30 pm. To attend the open house, interested students must bring an identification card, proof of DC residency, and a High School Diploma or GED (if your diploma is from another country it will need to be translated).

The program is tailored for individuals who would like to earn their credentials in either infants & toddlers or preschool (Optional). The curriculum is designed to focus on best practices in early childhood education, equipping students with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in this field. Upon successful completion, participants will be eligible to obtain their Child Development Associate Bilingual Credential. The program centers around a core set of competencies and standards, guiding early learning professionals in nurturing the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social development of young children.

In the Washington area, the ECE field continues to experience significant growth and a high demand for talented professionals. Being bilingual, including proficiency in Spanish, provides an added advantage in this field.

UDC WDLL welcomes all interested individuals to explore the Child Development Associate in Spanish program during the open house event and join the dynamic and rewarding field of early childhood education.
