Since 2015, the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) has been extremely fortunate to have President Ronald Mason Jr. at its helm. His leadership, guidance and tremendous dedication have significantly impacted UDC and its extensive stakeholders. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to offer our heartfelt gratitude to President Mason for his service and transformative leadership.

On a personal note, I would like to thank President Mason for his friendship. When he came to UDC seven years ago, in addition to his extreme knowledge, keen insight and intelligence, he brought inspiration, humility and warmth to the role. During his tenure, we have made great strides because he has always understood the totality of the institution, its mission and the remarkable promise and potential UDC holds.

As we recognize President Mason today for his many contributions, we must also look ahead and build on the notable accomplishments from his tenure, ensuring this historic University maintains a path of excellence. We will provide information on a Presidential Search Committee soon. It will be an inclusive process, and we will seek valuable input from the UDC community.

I look forward to working with President Mason and all of you to make this coming year a success.

Christopher D. Bell, Esq.
Chair, Board of Trustees
