AllCare and MOM’s Organic Market sign retail leases with the University of the District of Columbia

Health clinic and organic grocery store will occupy retail space in two UDC buildings in 2022

WASHINGTON – AllCare Family Medicine and Urgent Care and MOM’s Organic Market will open locations at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) flagship campus in the Van Ness neighborhood in 2022. UDC’s Board of Trustees approved both leases, and UDC will serve as the landlord.

AllCare, a division of Capital Healthcare in Alexandria, will occupy retail space number 3 in the UDC David A. Clarke School of Law building at 4340 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, previously occupied by Van Ness Main Street. The clinic aims to move in during the first quarter of 2022. AllCare has applied for construction permits, but pandemic delays across the industry have postponed updates to the space pending review by the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA).

The University expects AllCare to be a long-term asset to the community. In addition to providing health care services to Van Ness residents and the UDC community, AllCare and UDC are discussing a future partnership with the nursing program to offer internships and practicums for students.

MOM’s Organic Market, a Rockville-based natural and organic grocery store focused on sustainable and healthy consumerism, has set a tentative grand opening for summer 2022 at 4250 Connecticut Avenue Northwest in retail space number 1. The UDC Board of Trustees approved the lease on June 29, 2021, and UDC President Ronald Mason Jr. signed it on June 30. MOM’s will occupy more than 16,000 square feet of retail space with 85 exclusive parking spaces in the parking garage off Windom Place.

In addition to grocery, MOM’s is expected to house a deli, outdoor seating and a food counter serving made-to-order food and beverages consistent with the MOM’s Organic brand. Menu items may include baked goods, bowls, salads, sandwiches, juices, soups, coffee, beer, wine and entrées for on-site consumption and takeaway.

UDC and MOM’s Organic Holding Co., Inc. are also exploring partnership opportunities to provide meaningful and expanded services to the University’s students and the community.

With the help of commercial real estate broker KLNB, the University has sought partnerships with tenants for its vacant retail spaces at 4350, 4250 and 4225 Connecticut Avenue Northwest. MOM’s and AllCare are expected to attract additional businesses that provide services, products and opportunities to the community.
