Rynthia Rost is Senior Executive Advisor to IBM beginning July 2020. Her duties involve providing technical and operational support to senior-level executives of the IBM Foundation and specifically the PTECH program which seeks to implement a technology curriculum in grades 10-14 by the inclusion of a community college education to assure high school graduates are equipped to enter the workforce of today and tomorrow and secure high tech new collar jobs. Prior to IBM Rost was vice president for public affairs of the Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO) beginning in 1994 and through 2020, for more than 26 years. Rost served on the board of the GEICO companies and the GEICO Philanthropic Foundation and directed the company’s cause marketing, community affairs, and community volunteer activities.

Rost is a graduate of Fisk University and received her JD from Indiana University School of Law. She has received the Indiana University Law Schools Distinguished Service Award; the International Dialogue on Diversity Mentorship Award; the Community Partner Award from Mentor’s Inc.; the National “Service to Youth Award” from the National Boys and Girls Clubs of America; and the Collins Distinguish Service award as a Trustee of the National Urban League. Rost has served as a fellow of the Justice and Society Program of the Aspen Institute.

Rost is a member of the Brookings Institute’s Council and a member of the Minority Corporate Lawyers Association and the Association of Corporate Lawyers of America. Rost served on the executive board of directors of the Washington Board of Trade and is a member of the Economic Club, and the Federal City Council. She served as vice president and member of the executive board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and as a director of the Washington Urban League and a member of the Urban Leagues affiliates in Washington, DC, and Essex County, New Jersey.
