Welcome our new Chief of Staff and Senior Vice President

 

The University of the District of Columbia welcomes Monique Guillory, PhD, as the new Chief of Staff and Senior Vice President in the Office of the President. Dr. Guillory is a 25-year veteran higher education administrator with wide-ranging leadership experience in program development, accreditation processes, STEM pipelines and student success. Dr. Guillory comes to UDC from Morehouse School of Medicine where she served as the Chief of Staff and Chief Administrative Officer for the Office of the President and Dean. In this role she coordinated the institutional response to COVID-19, spearheading the school’s phased Return to Campus efforts at the height of the pandemic in May 2020. She also provided leadership and guidance supporting the undergraduate institutions within the Atlanta University Center Consortium as they navigated the challenges of returning students to their respective campuses amid COVID-19. Dr. Guillory is a former member of the substantive change committee for the Middle States Commission for Higher Education (MSCHE) and is an experienced Middle States evaluator for institutional accreditation. She also served as a member-elect for the Middle States Regional Council for College Board. Dr. Guillory earned her Ph.D. in comparative literature and performance studies from New York University where she won the Arthur J. Schomburg Award for Excellence in the Humanities. She is the co-editor of “Soul: Black Power, Politics and Pleasure” (NYU:1998) and is a 1991 Mellon Fellow. In her new role at UDC, Dr. Guillory will serve as a member of the president’s cabinet and will oversee the areas of human resources, advancement, marketing and communication, and institutional effectiveness.
