UDC announces RISE enrollment incentives for Fall 2021

Incentive programs include free tuition, housing, books, devices

WASHINGTON – The University of the District of Columbia is extending an enrollment incentive program to students enrolling for Fall 2021. UDC RISE: Recovery, Intervention, Support, and Engagement consists of four programs designed to reduce the financial burden of the largest number of students possible. Program components vary but may include free tuition and housing, scholarships, books, a free electronic device and a free final semester. UDC RISE is designed to help the university and D.C. community recover from the financial and educational impacts of COVID-19.

According to UDC President Ronald Mason, “The pandemic magnified the challenges many of our students face daily. UDC RISE is our attempt to do everything within our power to ensure that finances are not an impediment to higher learning.”

RISE programs include DC University Partnership (DC-UP), RISE-DC and UDC Complete.

DC-UP is available to 2021 graduates of DCPS/Charter high schools. The DC-UP learning community at UDC is an intentional, leadership community formed around academic programs, service learning and career services. Valedictorians, salutatorians and students with a 3.7 GPA or higher receive a full tuition scholarship and a partial housing scholarship. Partial merit-based scholarships are available for students with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.6. Need-based scholarships of $1,000 per semester are also included in the DC-UP incentive. Students will also receive bookstore credit for Fall 2021 and a free Microsoft Surface Go.

RISE-DC is available to all students and includes last-dollar/need-based free tuition, a $1,000 need-based scholarship per semester, bookstore credit and a Microsoft Surface Go.

UDC Complete provides students graduating in the 2021-2022 academic year with free tuition and fees (last-dollar) for the spring semester. To be eligible for UDC Complete, students must complete a bachelor’s or associate’s degree program at UDC.

Students must apply for these incentives via the UDC website (udc.edu) by August 13, 2021.
