UDC-TV General Manager receives six Telly Awards for “I Knew George”

Congratulations to Ed Jones Jr., UDC-TV General Manager, for receiving six Telly Awards for “I Knew George,” which announced UDC’s commemoration of George Floyd last summer and connects Floyd’s murder to other historical and all-too-ordinary moments of systemic racism and white supremacy. The production received three Gold and three Silver Telly Awards at the 42nd Annual Telly Awards.

The piece was produced by Jones and Pres. Ronald Mason Jr. In addition, Jones edited the story, and Pres. Mason received a writing credit and provided the narration. Jones said, “This award is the byproduct of a passionate spirit of collaboration, creativity and advocacy for social justice that motivates students, faculty, administrators and staff at the University of the District of Columbia.”

In an email, Executive Director for The Telly Awards Sabrina Dridje said, “This is an incredible achievement! With a number of high-caliber entries submitted, this year’s Telly Awards entrants truly represented the most innovative stories being told across all screens.
