UDC Receives Calvin Jones BIG BAND Jazz Festival Proclamation

Washington, DC - Mayor Vincent C. Gray has issued a proclamation to the University of the District of Columbia in honor of the Calvin Jones BIG BAND Jazz Festival, which is celebrating its milestone 25th anniversary on April 25, 2011. "We are delighted that the Mayor has recognized what has proven to be a signature event for our program, the University and Washington, DC. We are also excited that Congressman John Conyers, Jr., the longtime advocate for jazz, is serving as our Honorary Chair. This will be a great celebration for our community and for this great music." said Judith Korey, UDC Music Program Director and Curator – Felix E. Grant Jazz Archives.
