Expansion of UDC’s MPD program

The District of Columbia’s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) participates in a nationally renowned community relations training, which is provided by professors from the University of the District of Columbia – Community College. The District of Columbia’s MDP have invited members of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s (WMATA) Metropolitan Transit Police Department (MTPD) to participate in its community relations training at UDC-CC.

MPD’s Recruiting Division has been exploring ways to continue expanding the applicant pool of cadets. The Police Cadet Program, as expanded, has provided a steady stream of young adults from the District entering the workforce.  UDC-CC is providing the necessary education for MPD’s cadets to meet the scholastic achievement necessary of police officer appointees.
