Team UDC—Bailey Garfield (captain), a senior electrical engineering and mathematics major; Jamil Mian, a senior urban sustainability major; Brian Simpkins, a junior digital media; Aimee Balthazar, a senior biology major; and Coach Andreas Smith—defeated Howard University (770-440) on Saturday, February 25, to earn the Northeastern Regional Tournament Champions title in the Honda Campus Allstar Challenge (HCASC). The HCASC is an academic bowl for HBCUs and one of Honda’s largest and longest-running philanthropic initiatives in the United States. Since 1989, the program has awarded more than $8 million in grants to participating HBCUs. Team UDC will head to Los Angeles, California, in April to compete in the national championship.
