Dr. Ada Vilageliu-Diaz, assistant professor of English and the UDC LatinX Student Association she advises, will celebrate the University’s Hispanic and Latinx community during Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 through October 15. Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes Hispanic Americans’ contributions to American history, culture and achievements.

Join them on Thursday, October 6, at 7:00 p.m. for the D.C. watch party for the PBS premiere of the documentary film La Manplesa. The film chronicles the 1991 riots in D.C.’s Mt. Pleasant neighborhood, the root causes, the days of the uprising and the community organizing that followed. This special screening will take place at the University of the District of Columbia’s Student Center Ballroom on the Van Ness campus. Please use this link to RSVP.
