On April 26, UDC President Ronald Mason Jr. met with Assistant Director in Charge (ADIC) Steven D’Antuono, head of the Washington Field Office, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Jeffrey Cannon, head of the Mission Services Division of the Washington Field Office and Special Agent/Private Sector Coordinator Matthew O’Brien, the academia coordinator, who works with colleges and universities.

The meeting was the second time ADIC D’Antuono and President Mason have gathered to discuss ways to continue enhancing the relationship and engagement activities between the University and the FBI. Through the Beacon Project Initiative, the FBI has taken strides to work more closely with all HBCUs to build opportunities for a more diverse workforce within the FBI and provide more employment opportunities for UDC students after graduation. Additionally, the FBI wants to foster better relationships with HBCUs, so the various threats they face can be better addressed in the future.

”We want UDC students to understand the FBI is not only special agents, but we also have a myriad of other employment opportunities, including everything from analysts, mathematicians, accountants to even photographers and automotive mechanics,” said ADIC D’Antuono. “To accomplish our mission, we need a more diverse workforce in backgrounds, knowledge and skills.”

President Mason stated that the University appreciates the collaboration.

“UDC is proud to partner with the FBI. HBCUs have a lot of untapped resources, which we specialize in and produce,” he said. “With this collaboration, we are combining our efforts to help students achieve their highest levels of human potential.”
