UDC Welcomes In-Coming Mayor/Council
Washington, DC - Mayor-elect Vincent C. Gray was the guest of honor at a reception organized by UDC’s Government Relations office held at the Hay Adams Hotel last Wednesday night. UDC President Dr. Allen Sessoms personally welcomed Mr. Gray and members of the incoming city council by saying, “We are poised now for great things as UDC celebrates its 160th anniversary in 2011.”
Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton attended the event, as did Shadow US Senator Paul Strauss and a host of current and former dignitaries, including former mayor Sharon Pratt. Council members Mary Cheh and Michael Brown also attended.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd of more than 100, Mayor-elect Gray applauded the many changes underway at UDC to “enhance the university’s appearance and image.” He cited UDC being named as ‘Emerging Business of the Year’ by the DC Chamber of Commerce as just such a credential that “notes integrity and will boost the standing of the university as time goes by.”
