Description:  This 3 hour session will introduce participants to foundational knowledge, values, skills, and ethics related to work with LGBT and gender non-conforming people. Together, we will discuss our ethical role in supporting LGBT and gender non-conforming people with specific focus on the NASW’s code of ethics preamble which suggests social workers are sensitive to cultural and ethnic diversity and strive to end discrimination, oppression, poverty, and other forms of social injustice.

Description:  Opportunities to promote sexual health in older adults often get missed due to our assumptions about sex and aging. The fact is, older adults are having sex, and discussions related to sexuality in aging populations are important consideration for practitioners. This interactive workshop will examine sexual attitudes of older adults, risk factors for STI transmission, and barriers to intervention. Ethical considerations in addressing issues of intimacy and sexuality will be an additional area of focus.
