A native of the DMV area, Dr. Darryl Hylton, Jr. is a two time HBCU graduate from Norfolk State University and North Carolina A&T State University where he earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Elementary Education/Mathematics and Adult & Higher Education, respectively. Additionally, he completed his doctorate in Organizational Leadership at Gardner-Webb University.
Upon the completion of his college degree at Norfolk State, Dr. Hylton returned to Maryland to teach 5th grade math and science. After his service in the classroom, he transitioned to a full-time professional in higher education. As a higher education practitioner, he remains a student-centered advocate with emphasis on supporting Black male student success. Because of the intersection of his passion and influence, Dr. Hylton expanded his knowledge and research in his doctoral program where he examined the impact of mentoring on the persistence of African-American males at predominately white institutions (PWIs).
When Dr. Hylton is not working you can find him mentoring, volunteering, or Doing your local event. Overall, Dr. Hylton is an innovative and influential individual who will do whatever he can to help others succeed.
